SlopeCoach Mobile App Design

Overview

SlopeCoach is a conceptual mobile coaching platform designed to help ski and snowboard instructors manage lessons, track student skill development, and maintain learning continuity between sessions.

The app brings lesson planning, skill assessment, progress tracking, instructor notes, and video-based coaching into one experience. Students can review lesson feedback and videos after each session, practice independently, and upload their own videos for instructor review before their next lesson.

Designed with the realities of on-mountain instruction in mind, SlopeCoach emphasizes fast interactions, outdoor readability, glove-friendly controls, and offline accessibility.

Mission

The goal of SlopeCoach is to explore how mobile technology can help instructors spend less time documenting lessons and more time teaching, while giving students a clearer understanding of their progress.

The experience is built around a continuous learning cycle: Teach → Observe → Assess → Review → practice → Progress

By connecting each lesson with skill assessments, instructor feedback, video review, and future learning goals, SlopeCoach helps ensure that every lesson builds on the last.

My role and what I Have Accomplished

As the Product Designer for this self-initiated concept, I developed SlopeCoach from initial product strategy and information architecture through UX and visual design.

While the complete product includes multiple instructor and student journeys, I chose to focus the MVP on Student Skill Progress Management—a core experience that connects lesson preparation, skill assessment, instructor feedback, video coaching, student practice, and ongoing progress tracking.

I defined the end-to-end user flow, established the product's information architecture, developed the Alpine Sky visual design system, and designed key mobile interactions with the realities of on-mountain instruction in mind.

By focusing the MVP on one meaningful end-to-end journey, I was able to explore the experience in greater depth while establishing a scalable foundation for future SlopeCoach features.
